CNN Money has compiled a list of the top 100 companies to work for this year and here's a closer work at ten of the best based on job growth, number of employees, average compensation, and the overall working environment.
Google: Google is definitely the overachiever amongst the crowd of “best companies.” Not only was Google up for everything last year –share price, revenue, profits, paid search clicks, and hiring–, but its employees continually boast about the awesome working environment and office-culture. They've got an arcade, ping pong table, a bowling alley, bocce courts...the New York office even offers eye brow shaping! Not to mention the 25 cafes employees frequent throughout their shifts...

Boston Consulting Group : Another big winner on that list, Boston Consulting Group, had 10% job growth and acquired $3,050,000 in revenue in 2010 with a only a small fraction of the number of employees that Google has. On average, consultants with this firm earn an average salary of $139,000.

NetApp: This company made this list for multiple reasons as well. Perhaps the most noteworthy information is the fact that employees at NetApp received payouts up to 31% of their salary last year!

NuStar Energy: Spoiler alert: this company has never in its history had a layoff. Additionally, they pay 100% of its workers' healthy insurance premiums, and will match 401(k) contributions up to 6% of pay. And just in case of emergency, NuStar has no qualms about lending the corporate jet to employees.

Whole Foods Market: Having friends who have worked here and supported themselves quite well, I always wondered how they did so on what I assumed must be “mediocre” pay. Boy, was I misled! Not only does Whole Foods pay well, but it also caps salaries of executives at 19 times the average full-time salary. According to CNN, “Co-founder John Mackey's 2006 pay reduction to $1 a year is still in effect.”

General Mills: Chances are, if you turn on the television before 11 P.M. you'll see a General Mills commercial. They've made quite the name for themselves over the years and boast that they offer people “careers, not jobs.” They're a food giant corporation that transformed 85% of its entry-level employees into officers.
