The argument so-often brought into discussion between the sexes is that women make 75 cents for every dollar men make. And the follow-up question must be, does this contemporary economic myth have any weight? Women argue that they are being discriminated against in labor markets while men seem to disagree.
Well this video will prove that such argument is, in fact, a myth. But with a hint of truth in it. As Professor Steven Horwitz of St. Lawerence University explains on LearnLiberty.org, he gives this example:
If you add up all the incomes of women and divide by the number of women in the labor force and then do the same thing for men, what you’ll find is, on average, women do make about 75% of what men do.
What’s happening here is not discrimination in the labor market, but differences in the choices that men and women make (about investing in their knowledge, their education, their skills, and their job experiences) that lead to them getting paid different salaries.
We have investigated the differences between men and women within the investing and labor markets in the past, and this video adds some fuel to the fire.
Give it a look...
