NCR Jumps 9% On Q4 Beat, Asset Sale

Shares of NCR (NCR) rose $1.67, or almost 9%, to $20.70 in late trading after the company reported Q4 revenue and profit ahead of consensus, forecast the current year’s profit ahead of expectations, and said it sold some assets to DVD vendor Coinstar (CSTR).

Revenue in the three months ended in December rose 17%, year over year, to $1.64 billion, yielding earnings per share of 65 cents.

Analysts had been modeling $1.59 billion and 57 cents a share.

NCR said its free cash flow rose 60%, year over year, to $229 million.

For this year, the company forecast revenue to rise 7% to 9% from 2011′s level, before allowing for the effects of foreign exchange. Analysts have been modeling 9.6% growth, to $5.96 billion. The company sees EPS, excluding some costs, in a range of $2.36 to $2.43. That is ahead of the average $2.20 per share consensus.
